Barney's Bumble Black Mild

Post by Wezzel » Wed Oct 08, 2014 8:33 pm

Brewed this on Monday using Barney's recipe (sorry can't post the link as I'm on Tapatalk on an iPhone).

93% Mild ale malt
4.7% Dark crystal
2.3% Roasted Barley
Bittered to 25 IBU's with progress (all early)
Wyeast 1968 Fullers yeast

It took off like a rocket and fought its way out of the fermenter within 18 hours.

The recipe calls for it to be racked onto 400 gms of honey after 4 days (5 gals). My question is do I literally rack onto the honey or do I need to thin the honey with a little warm water and stir it in gently. I've not used honey before. Also how long should I leave it before priming and bottling/kegging.

If you're reading Barney - help!

Thanks Woblylegs, I was thinking along the same lines. I want to make sure the honey is well mixed in as opposed to sitting in a lump at the bottom of the FV.
