Be critical!

Post by Chicken Dipper » Wed Oct 22, 2014 12:19 pm

Hi all, have brewed this already but without the Munich and a different hop list, last time I used EKG and Bobek, this time I am thinking First Gold and Amarillo. I love these two together, spice and orangey citrus. I use them in hoppy 6.5% IPA which is one of my favourites. The EKG and Bobek worked well together but it wasn't quite what I wanted. I also used cane sugar last time so I hope the Candi Sugar is going to smooth it out a bit.

Anyway, this is called Ragged Irrecgular, it's named after the 91st Bomb Group (heavy) who flew the Memphis Belle from the village I live in during WW2. The idea was to brew a big or heavy beer with a mix US and UK hops, with support from malts and yeast from the UK and continent. I used Notts yeast last time, but this time I'm going to use Mangrove Jacks Belgian yeast for some fruit and spice. The Munich malt I hope is going to add an extra dimension with some extra maltiness.

6.5 kg Maris Otter
500g Clear Candi Sugar
500g Cara Malt
500g Munich Malt

20g Magnum 90mins

25g First Gold 20mins
25g Amarillo 20mins

25g First Gold 5mins
25g Amarillo 5mins

Mangrove Jacks Belgian Yeast

What do you think?

First Gold is awesome with a Belgian yeast. =P~

I would double the late additions, but that's just me.

Can't be arsed to keep changing this bit, so, drinking some beer and wanting to brew many more!

Really? Hmmmm, don't think I've tasted that, but I can sure imagine how nice that would be...

Dang you, Scupps, I already had my next few brews all lined up in my mind but now something might need to get bumped!
