NZ Pacifica Single Hop Pale Ale

Post by byronb » Tue Dec 02, 2014 3:48 pm

Any thoughts on the recipe below? I'm not planning on placing another malt/hops order until the new year so this will use up all of my crystal malt. For the yeast I'm planning on using a cup or two of the yeast cake from the porter I made last weekend. Can't remember why I bought 2x100g of Pacifica so this will use up one pack :)

It sounds good to me, because I like my IPAs with a strong malty backbone, especially when paired with English ale yeast.

But there are many US brewers who would tell you never use more than 5% Crystal Malt in an IPA, especially if you're including Munich malt too. It's a judgment call, but expect some definite sweetness from this grainbill.
