What is your all-time favourite stout?
Past or present, commercial or homebrew, import or domestic, low-grav or high-grav, sweet or dry...what is your all-time favourite stout?
Recipes are optional (but welcome). Images are optional (but welcome). Sentimental stories are absolutely encouraged.
I've been in a stout mood lately, about to brew a strong one of my own. What about you guys? 'Tis the reason for big black ales, right? Let's get a discussion going, mates!
Cheers,
-Seymour

I love stouts and porters. Harviestoun's Old Engine Oil is one of my favourite beers, but it's more of a porter so doesn't answer your question
Orkney Dragonhead.
I had a toffee stout once that was awesome, can't remember who it was buy though, might have been Barney's beers? Everything they do is excellent.
March of the Penguins by Williams Bros.
Sam Smiths Oatmeal stout and chocolate stout.
There's one I'm remembering as Redditch Stout, but can't find it. 330ml bottle, simple white label with red writing about 7%, was bloody tasty.
I tend to like em dry and roasty, but as long as they're good I don't mind too much.

Harveys imperial extra double
Highland Porter
I had a pint of Loch Lomond Silkie stout recently that was really outstanding, would recommend that too

Memorable commercial stouts are Weird Beard Fade to Black, not strictly a stout but very stout-like, Marble stout and Camden Ink, which I had last night.
My first AG brew was a stout and I have very fond memories of it. It used US05. I can drag up a recipe if required. My latest stout, the Weiss Stout on the brewday thread, is very good too,

Courage RIS. Didn't expect it to be much but was a master class.
Victory Storm King is also an excellent one I had recently.
I had a stout I made myself recently that I was very sad to see finished.

The two stouts I've had from Arbor Ales were fantastic, their oyster stout is very smooth & their breakfast stout is a big bold flavoured thing that inspired me to try my own version out

Re: What is your all-time favourite stout?
I love the stronger stouts. Sri Lanka's Lion Stout is a real winner in my view but it's unbelievably pruney in flavour, not to mention thick and heavy.
I also have quite a fondness for Jamaican Dragon stout but it's been a year two since I drank it and yes, I know, it's not exactly a quality brew.
Tried Fuller's Imperial stout for the first time two weeks ago. Lovely drop.
As far as unusual stout/porter like brews go, Pipeworks pastrami on rye was a fantastic beer (the head is orange thanks to all the spicing). It doesn't claim to be a stout or a porter on the label but it's jet black and like a baltic/imperial stout.
Cheers

I have a soft spot for a well poured Guinness. Otherwise Liberty Brewings Darkest Days oatmeal stout makes me glad I moved to New Zealand.

Re: What is your all-time favourite stout?
I currently have a bit of a soft spot for Weird Beird's decadence stout. Tho I am also currently working my way through a small collection of Green Flash Double Stout that I got given.
I am hoping to brew my first stout in the next few weeks. But haven't decided on a recipe yet.
