Something other than a Pale ale

I am currently looking for inspiration for a beer other than a pale ale that could be made with:
EKG's
Brambling cross
Styrians
Challenger

Pale malt
crystal malt
roast barley
amber malt
torrified wheat

yeast
S04
nottingham
dried yeast from my local micro
champagne

Black treacle
golden syrup
honey
demerara sugar

I just fancy something in the stores other than a pale ale(I do have a THA brew for christmas maturing at the moment though).
I would like to do a stout or a mild, but at the moment I have no chocolate( and until I have a bigger order to put in I cannot justify shipping for just one specialty malt :( )
ANY ideas are welcome, I just fancy a change, though I will be brewing DRB's brambling beauty as my next brew :wink: All styles are welcome as long as I have the ingredients to hand. :=P

Hey Prodigal

I'm planning on combining various aspects of my two favourite brews (Lucky7 and Jolly Roger) and wondered if you'd care to be a guinea pig and try it first?

Lucky7 Twist

90 min 68C mash / 25l brew length / 90 min boil / target OG ~ 1043 / approx 80% eff

Grain Bill
4.00KG Pale Malt
0.30kg Crystal Malt
0.20Kg Torrified Wheat

Hops - 90 mins
12 IBU - Challenger
12 IBU - Goldings
1 IBU - Styrians (couldn't have 13 IBU's from one hop in a brew called Lucky7)

Hops - 15 Minutes
15g Challenger
15g Goldings

whirlafloc @ 10 mins

Hops - Flameout
40g Styrians

Ferment with Nottingham

Result should be good brown booze!

Well that sounds great there JP, I assume that it was also 12 IBU of Styrians and the 1 was a typo :wink:

And I like the mix of hops all classics each one and a front load of styrians, to draw you into the beer 8)

I may sort out my calcs and have a look at doing this :=P

No it was indeed 1 IBU as I was aiming for 25.

I took the malty base from the lucky7, replaced the fuggles with challenger as I'm really enjoying them in the jolly roger ale and ferment it all with a clean yeast

Sounds like it is in the perfect ball park as it not being to bitter the wife will be able to enjoy this too :wink: the flavour of the stunner has already got the thumbs up from her and it is as green as a pasture(I keep getting her to taste beer at various stages of its life to see how the flavour develops)

If its anything like my Styrian Stunner it'll be gone before its even getting close to a shade of light green :lol:

I thought I needed chocolate malt for a mild? Now drinking mild in Spain would be a experience(I wonder what my neighbours would make of it?)

I did look through the Durden Park site and a couple of the recipes there certainly peaked my interest, and the fact I had the ingredients in stock :wink:

And Spearmint Wino the only thing between me and my stunner is luckly a selection of beer and wine, but I do need to taste the development of my beer at every stage(just as you do when cooking). :wink:
