That's about the size that I usually brew.Cozzyb wrote:Hi, can people give me an Pale Ale/IPA recipe plus some advice.

Keep it simple: However much grain your system needs to hit 1.050s.
90-95% pale ale malt
0-5% crystal 40
0-5 % victory
35-40 IBUs Columbus
cascade and centennial to finish
Chico yeast to ferment
I'm just here for the beer.

Pretty classic receipt there, what sort of amounts would you say for the Cascade and Cent? Any dry hop?Rookie wrote:That's about the size that I usually brew.Cozzyb wrote:Hi, can people give me an Pale Ale/IPA recipe plus some advice.

my planned grain bill is 5% CaraMalt, 5% Biscuit, 5% wheat, 85% Pale malt.

That'll work.Cozzyb wrote:Pretty classic receipt there, what sort of amounts would you say for the Cascade and Cent? Any dry hop?

Maybe 1/4 ounce each at 10 minutes and after flame off.
When you take a gravity reading after a couple of weeks taste it and decide from that if you want to dry hop.
The last pale that I did was with simcoe and amarillo and didn't quite hit the flavor/aroma spot I wanted so I dry hopped with 1/8 ounce simcoe and 1/4 ounce amarillo. I had one last night with my wife's home made pizza and it was good. If you are going for more of an IPA than a pale use at least twice these amounts.
I'm just here for the beer.
Re: Pale Ale/IPA recipe request
ended up doing this
60 min
10g Columbus
10 min
7g Buzz Bullets (Citrus Blend from Yakima Valley)
7g Cascade
0min
14g Buzz Bullets
14g Cascade
Will likely dry hop with at least 14g of hops also, but tbh the last beer I did had 1oz and it was quite pleasant aroma wise.
