Planning a bit of an impulse brew for Monday to use up some of the stocks.
How does this sound: (23L recipe although my batch will be 50L)
3.1kg - 75% Weyermann bohemian pilsner malt
1kg - 25% Vienna malt
14.15g Saaz 60mins
14.15g Hallertauer 60mins
14.15g Saaz 30mins
14.15g Hallertauer 30mins
18.86g Saaz 15mins
18.86g Hallertauer 15mins
Target 1.042 OG 1.008 FG - 4.4%, 34.1 IBU, 6.1 EBC
Mashing at 66*C for 90mins
Boil for 90mins
Ferment with US05 til dropped clear then crash cool/quick lager at 2-3*C for a week (unsure about whether to rack into secondary or lager on the yeast?) then into cornies and force carbed for the sessions and remainder in bottles for sampling (and giving out the odd bottle to friends)
Hoping for a light bodied but flavourful pale ale at a sessionable strength. Thoughts? Have also got 100g of Tettnang in stocks too but that may be too much but maybe swapping with one of the others?
Cheers

Re: Noble hopped pale ale
Loks sort of like a pseudo pils to me. It should work out just fine I think.
Drinking:Saison (in bottles), Belgian Dubbel (in bottles), Oud Bruin (in bottles), Olde Ale (in bottles),
Abbey Triple (in bottles), Munich Helles, Best Bitter (TT Landlord clone), English IPA
Conditioning: Traditional bock bier, CAP
Fermenting: Munich Dunkel
Next up: Bitter (London Pride like), ESB
So many beers to make, so little time (and cold storage space)

Re: Noble hopped pale ale
Had a bit of change of plan on this one. Ended up going with this recipe instead (blame DPD for not turning up in time with my Vienna Malt)
for 50L
5.5kg Pilsner Malt
0.5kg Flaked Wheat
0.5kg Crystal Rye
0.5kg Sugar (needed to boost the OG a bit)
40g Tettnang 60mins
40g Hallertauer Mittlefruh 60mins
35g Saaz 60 mins
30g Tettnang 30mins
30g Hallertauer Mittlefruh 30mins
30g Tettnang 15mins
30g Hallertauer 15mins
10g Protofloc powder 15mins
OG ended up at 1.040 but only 40/45L (no scale on my fermenter)
IBU 35
Colour 12 EBC
Pitched 2 packs of US-05 and going to ferment on the lower side at 14/15*C

Re: Noble hopped pale ale
Looks good to me , but I am biased as I am partial to Tettnang and noble hops in general.
