If this is the Carlsberg Elephant beer then it's in Camra brew classic euro beers which is commonly available for about £8. I hope if people like it that they will go out and buy it as is has an amazing range of beers including UK pale ales, stouts porters etc. etc. as well as the vast range of Euro beers.

Carlsberg, Elephant Beer 7.5%
1.065 38IBU 23L(5gal)
5.45kg Pilsner Malt
750g White sucrose

90min boil - 60g Hallertau
15min boil - 15g Hallertau

Double decoction or 3 rest infusion mash.
Lager fermentation.

I remember nicknaming this 'Esther Rantzen Beer' in Tenerife a few years back. Whenever you took a swig of it your top lip would draw back over your teeth.

I too thought I might give this a go with the onset of cooler weather! There is a recipe in Clone Brews:

230g german light crystal??????
3.3kg xlite dme
570g corn sugar (glucose?) 113g hallertauer hersbrucker all of boil (bittering)
14g hhersbrucker 12 mins from end
irish moss
14g saaz 2mins from end

AG versions sustitutes 4.9 kg pils malt and says to reduce bittering hops by 33%?

Also recomments wyeyeast danish

No real problem with this (19L brewlength) - but what is German light crystal? I thought I would use CARAPILS? Any views/advice?

CaraHell?

Cheers guys, carahell was my first inclination, but the recipe states the German LCM as 2.5 Lovibond which I think equates to roughly 5 EBC. Carahell is stated as being 30 EBC which may be a bit dark???????
