Yeah the yeast is a big factor and it does really bring out the malt in any beer for sure. Brewing a clone without the WY1469 won't get near

I am a stay at home Dad turned professional brewer. I run a very small cuckoo brewery in the Cotswolds which specialises in Gluten Free beers.

It seems the TT Landlord and BoltMaker beers have stirred up some good discussions about achieving something close and what exactly they are.
My clones are based on the Bottled versions as whilst I have drunk lots of draft I don't have regular access to it so the clones are based on the bottles.
I think the cornerstone of both is the yeast - Wyeast 1469 as this delivers the malt background and fruitiness. With regard to TTL I also think they use a Hop Back for the hop aroma, I don't have one so use a post boil steep and dry hop to achieve something like this.
Bolt Maker is just TT Best Bitter renamed but having brewed GWs version a couple of times I have tweaked it somewhat based on my sampling the bottled version. I think the malt needs work but I think the hop additions are good.
With both I think the key is to drink them fresh too as as they age, they flavour profile changes quite a lot.
If any of you brew or tweak my recipes to brew them please share them as I'd like to see what you think/how they turned out

I've just bottled a new batch (version 3). The last was good and relatively close to TT I my opinion. I've followed the GW recipe but included a post boil addition of Styrian. This is for a 12.5l batch so roughly double if you brew standard size batches.
2.4kg golden promise
30g black malt
15g fuggle (60min)
10g stryian - bobek (60 mins)
15g EKG (60 mins)
30g stryian (10 mins whirlpool at 80c)
Mash at 68c for 60 mins.
Wyeast 1469 (fermented at 19c)
OG 1048
FG 1011
Abv 4.9% (slightly higher than anticipated)
Bottled with 1.4 vols
Ibu 40
Ebc 19
Water
Ca 150
Cl 160
SO 130
Alk 25
Let me know how it goes if you brew it.

I came across a similar suggestion, I think in a BYO article some time ago and although your yeast is more authentic, have enjoyed the late 80°C whirlpool addition Styrian hops. Brewed three times now and enjoyed.
