Second Gold 260907
I did a First Gold batch too yesterday DaaB
a variant of Guild Of Evil's 'First Gold Quaffer' recipe, also with a post 80 degree aroma addition during cooling.
I forgot to draw off wort for a DFS
, so pitched two sachets of re-hydrated Gervin. Going like a good 'un now.
Hope yours turns out well.

I thought that too DaaB. I brewed it hoping for a clone I guess, but home brew reigns superior in this caseDaaB wrote:I was going to do an all first gold recipe but as I have a block or two of challenger to use up I thought i'd use that as the bittering hop. I reckon it will be about the same with all the flavour additions I have included. It's a nice hop and to be honest I don't think Badger First Gold does it justice.

I have used challenger and first gold to great effect with my jolly roger ale, except I used mine the other way around (first gold to bitter and challenger for aroma). My only experience of first gold prior to this beer was the badger and I wasn't impressed, I'm glad I bit the bullet and tried them for myself!
