Attempted a second batch of this tonight -
Mash -
2.2 litres water
1kg crushed pale malt
60 mins at 65*c
Sparged with 4.5 litres apple juice
45minute boil -
7g Citra @ 45
5g Citra @ 30
5g Citra @ 15
After boil volume 5 litres.
Cooled and added 2 litres water - Gravity reading 1.060.
Added another 600ml water - Gravity reading 1.050.
3.8 litres each into 2x demijohns.
Half pack of SafAle US-05 ‘started’ with 1 teaspoon of yeast nutrient then split between the two DJs.
Planning on dry hopping 14g Citra (7g each demijohn) after three days. Cold crashing at 12 days and bottling at 14 days.

Re: Apple IPA
Really ‘creamy’ looking krausen on this beer now, after 2 days. Not sure I’ve ever seen one as creamy.

MF,
Looking good!
Are you dry hopping with pellets or leaf in a bag?

Re: Apple IPA
With pellets I done the dry hop this morning, soo I’ll leave it for another week or so then cold crash in the fridge. It smells amazing. Hoping it’ll be another tasty batch!

Re: Apple IPA
I bottled this stuff today! Primed the 7.6 litres with 130g of Golden Syrup. Wanted it to be fizzier than last time. Fingers crossed they don’t all explode!
Ended up spilling a load of it through my poor syphoning technique, so I got 13x 500ml bottles. FG 1.002. 6.3% ABV.
