Help
Been over 5 years since I have mashed a beer and the time has come to get something on tomorrow. Brew pots out of the loft and ready to go.
I have full bag of pale malt and the following hops and yeast
100 gm Cascade 5.06%
100 gm Citra 13.8%
Safeale 04 x 2
Safeale 04 x 3
I used to use Graham Wheelers beer engine on this site to devise recipes but we have Apple computer now and I can't work out how to download it? Any recommendations for a reliable alternative going forward?
Could anyone put me a hoppy beer recipe together for 46 litres? It would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
John.

Re: Help
+1 for brewfather.
Are you planning to buy more hops? 200g sounds low for 46L in case you plan for dry hopping

Re: Help
How much pale malt do you have? How old is it, is it crushed, and do you have any other grains?

Re: Help
Thanks. 10kg of malt in 46l will give you a beer of about 5% . Perfectly respectable!
My suggestion, if you have no other malts, would be to use the Challenger hops mainly for bittering, the Citra hops mainly for flavour and aroma.
Perhaps using them like this, assuming a 90 minute boil; 50g Challenger at the beginning of the boil, 50g challenger 30 minutes before the end of the boil, 40g Citra 15 minutes before the end of the boil, 60g Citra when the heat is turned off. This will give you 52 bitterness units in a finished beer of 4.9%. calculated from Graham wheeler's Beer Engine.
It leaves you no hops for dry hopping. Not necessarily a bad thing, but you may want to buy some more Citra for this.
