i want to have a go at an all grain beer but dont want to buy all the kit for a full on 40 pinter so if i divided a normal 40 pint recipe by five would this be the way to go .also i did see a instructional photo set ggoing through this sort of mash by either jim or daab but i cant seem to find it anymore where has it gone cheers

I would go for a 8 - 10 litre brew though almost doubling your proposed 'mini'. I just did my first mini mash this weekend. I used a picnic cooler though rather than the oven, an old boiler though a dixie would have done for the boil (and a hop-sock).
Here's the recipe 8L @ 1.044 OG:-
1500g Pale Malt
122g Crystal
fuggles 4.8% aa (90 mins) 13g
Goldings 6.2% aa (90) 12g
Goldings (10) 3g
at 40 IBU's this could be quite a bitter/hoppy beer though
