What about dropping a sterile magnet into the tin, attaching to a second magnet through bottom of tin and then letting it tip? Sterile magnet clings onto the other and clamps through the bottom of the can.

CJR; I had to sleep on that one, mate .....

I shove my metal stirrer deep into my gear, and spin it with a drill. Do that after just a pish with the brown liquid. 'Ioderform'? What ever. That works.

I don't know about plonking a magnet onto a bed of liquid malt extract though. Also not sure about magnets themselves: Do they not reject eachother, if they both face the same way? :|

Dunno. More consideration needed. Now? I have work to do.

Depends on the magnet. As long as you put two that attract then you should be fine.

Also, depends on the metal your stirrer is. It might not be magnetic.

well you can get some really really strong neodymium magnets that can hold tons of weight that would do but would scare the bejuses out of me attaching it and don't know if you would eve get it off again but worth trying none the less
one that has a 49kg pull is only £11 from http://e-magnetsuk.com/magnet_products/ ... gnets.aspx so may be worth trying

as for putting a magnet in the can so long as it sinks enough you can attract it with another one but think it will just stick to the side first time you put it in
mush better would be to rig something up to tip the can for you and let it do it job easy to build out of wood and just have a way to hold it at the angle you want then walk away have a beer and watch it do it job
ill see if i can make something up and post a pic for you

I suspect that's what my mad mate has then? Last I saw of them, they were gripping the sh!t out of eachother from either side of a solid, wooden door. Wonder they never squashed the door.

Just don't fancy magnets inside the tin though. All that faffing. Sticky malt and sticky magnets ....?

No. I'm already ahead of ye second post here. Lump hammer and some wood comes to mind.

Head's a bit tied up in negotiating some €K's deals, at the moment. With known and proven snakes. Focuses the f**king mind, that does!

Standing there, holding a tin upside down? Nice time to just zone out and think over what these devious bast@rds are saying now .....

Just thought of a simple way.

1) Attach hook above where you want to empty your tin.

2) Make a lasso out of string and attach it around the bottom of the can. The rim at the bottom should keep it in place.

3) Open and turn upside-down, tie other end of lasso to hook and suspend. Contents falls into FV whilst you get amongst some you made earlier.

I'd already thought of string, mate. Lot more pissing about, in practice, that it sounds on a keyboard. My kitchen ceiling's also massively cathedral like. F**k getting the ladder out, every time, to hook a string. Take as long as standing there, look :(

No. I've come up with the germ of a new idea now. Only, I'm so f**king busy, dealing with other sh!t, I can't focus on anything just now.

Oh; And I look like being condemned to phone only internet, within a week!!! F**king 3 ie! Thank ye god ye not stuck with them!!! Lying, thieving, evil curry scoffing bast@rds!!!

You must have one of these laying around the place ?

loop some string through it, grip the bottom lip of the can with it, there u go.
i'd trust it to hold a can in the air a damn sight more than a magnet.

Neil; Ye may well have it there!

I've got some Mole Grips, obviously. But, mine are the full sized f**kers. That's to say, they're about seven or eight inches long and, yes, they could hold a f**king horse!

But, they do these dinky little ones, don't they? Seen a set, somewhere. More like three or four inches.

It's the spacial relationship, of course. Need room for all this stuff dangling into the FV. Because, with the best will in the world, I really don't need a f**king string hanging from my ceiling!

I happen to knock up right where I'm most active, in my kitchen. I can't be body swerving a set of moles on a string. Nor can I be doing with climbing about, trying to hitch them out of the way each time.

But, yeah; I checked the bottom of a Coopers tin, today. More lip than a council kid! Mini Mole Grips would indeed hang on like a Pit Dog.

Just that I have in mind fixing my moles to a baton. Baton simply rests over the edges of the FV. Yeah? Cable tied, somehow, as a permanent fixture. No other use for those moles. Clamp them onto the tin (Almost as fast as a magnet then) And plonk the lot down ~ F**k off and do something more useful for a few minutes.

No quite exactly as swift and convenient as a magnet. But, yeah; Probably about the best we'll ever get!

Sh!t! And I was in town, today. Went right past the place I'd be looking for these mini moles. And tomorrow I need to make beer. F**king standing there. Holding tins :(

Good input, mate!

Thanks.

I have similar to these,
cheap and cheerful, but would hold a can easily enough after u have emptied the majority of the contents into FV.
u could probably get similar in a "Pound shop" if u have one nearby.

Just generic, mini 'Mole Grips', mate. Cost me €7.50 in the creamery. Tenner, over the road! I've long since learned to compare the two places.

But, yeah; Where ever ye buy tools. Should get a set for a tenner or less. Bearing in mind, as I say, these are cheap, Korean ones. Proper " Mole Grips " would be a fair bit more.

Be putting them to use too, next time I knock up
