hi johan

dont worry too much about that metal/fruit twang you mentioned. i did a coopers bitter a while back that turned out very similar and i just left it in the bottles at the back of the cellar.
given that that was a few months ago, i tried a couple last weekend. not a prize winner by any stretch of the imagination, but quite drinkable nonetheless.
yours might turn out better given sufficient time. :D

AS per other thread, my adapted kit recipe is now fermenting away nicely

1 x can Tom Caxton Real Ale kit
500g Muntons beerkit enhancer
250g Glucose powder
250g organic dark muscovado
A glug of golden syrup
half the hop oil packet from the real ale kit

Brewing now with Muntons Gold yeast.

Looks lovely

Will do

FV2 going on tomorrow that will be made up of

1 x can Geordie Mild - about as cheap a can as you can get huh?
500g Beerkit enhancer
500g Muscovado

Plus steeped grains - chocolate malt and roasted barley.

Might even add something like treacle or molasses

As you can see, I like my ales DARK!

oy oy tony boy.

tried a bottle tonight as promised. and....
kronenbourg it aint. [-X id put it on a par with a basic coopers lager done with bke. that said it didnt taste bad. a bit grassy if that makes any sense.i added hops, steeped in a cafetiere and wonder if i didnt use enough to get that sharp bite you need in a good lager. it was quite sweet, nice and sparkly and clear as a bell and not bad for sinking a few on a hot summer afternoon. but i think the acid test for me is `would i brew it again?`probably.
..............not. but then ive just started experimenting with lager yeasts and lower temperatures so who knows where that will take me?

hope that helps and id love to hear from anyone else whos tried this one.

With that much sugar will taste watery and probably not so lovely.
Best wishes

d'you think?

Bang on the 1kg of sugars, plus the crystal malt steepings - not sure that has gone way over the kit recipe (and this is the thread on adapted kit recipes)

Will keep an eye on it.

I'm not sure what sort of answer you're looking for. Are you looking for some honest advice or are looking for someone to say "wow, that sounds brilliant" even when it'll obviously come out otherwise?
Best wishes
