Yeah, but; Constant what, mate? This gear kicks off best at around the 21 / 22 C mark.
Fish tank heaters are, obviously, thermostatically controlled too.

Thermostat is set to 20,
the strip thermometer on side of FV reads around the 21 mark,
i have 3 fv's which are set up with 50 watt fish tank heaters, but i haven't had them switched on, with the temp in the house as it is, there doesn't seem to be any need.

I'd switch 'em on, Neil. Set to 22. Then, they'll do nothing, or something, as the need arises.
Why did ye get then, if ye were happy with ye ambient temp's?

Personally, I prefer to sit the contents of the FV in ME, one pint at a timeDitch wrote: F*king sure they are! So, there's ye answer then. Immerse yeself in home brewing; Sit in ye FV!

Question for ya ditch.
How long does it take your original foam and spewage to sink back into the brew? It's been 3 days now and after an early escape attempt there now only a couple of inches of foam on top. I take it this is pretty normal but from your pics early on in the thread I imagined to would be spewing for a good few days but I've only had a day and a halfway of explosion.
Ta.

Psycho Mouse; What ye experiencing there is dead normal, mate.
Don't be shy of trying it at seven days either. What I do, I stick the syphon tube in there and draw off into a glass.

That's pretty much what I've got going on, except I'm not suspending mine from the ceiling
.
I shan't be shy at all, infact I've threw the hydrometer in my "brew cupboard" and locked it away for this one and doing it all by eye, so I'll give it a try after a week, but I reckon 10 or 12 days should do the trick.
I see you've not been shy at trying yours. The FV level looks a little "depleted"

That's my point exactly, mate. All these wet lips babbling on about how essential a babies rattle is, stuck in the top?Psycho Mouse wrote: I see you've not been shy at trying yours. The FV level looks a little "depleted"
Oh, really? Well, I drunk that entire f**king FV, just as ye see it. Lid wide open. Syphon tube hanging out. Room full of little flies. Done it a few times now. Just to put my money where my mouth is.
Nothing F**king Happened!
Can't tell Them that though

Re: " Ditch's Stout " Master Class .....
Yeah, I don't get all the anally retentive fretting about absolute hygiene going on around here, most houses are so clean that along as you don't piss in your brew or make it in a muddy field somewhere I'll turn out completely fine.
Re: " Ditch's Stout " Master Class .....
Ok that was an extreme example, but a FV doesn't have to be hermetically sealed in a microbe free environment for it to work well, just look at ditch's fine example.

Why do I have an image in my mind of Ditch laying on the floor beneath that with the syphon tube in his mouth 5 minutes before this picture ?Ditch wrote:
