Nigel; This ties in nicely with ye other post, about Metal, that I just answered on;

My fish tank heaters cause the Spew. 21 C.

One I had to leave, in a cellar cold room, with no heater in it? Iron Filings! :(

Thanks for your patience Ditch, I didn't make myself clear earlier; I followed your recipe as close as I could (although granted I haven't read all of the thread) only difference is that I had to use BKE this time, used plasterers paddle, great foamy head. Waited till last thing at night, poured in mug of cane sugar and yeast sachet and didn't stir it just put lid on, open on one side to accommodate flex from fish tank heater. I know it won't be anything like yours but wanted to try and make a brew anyway, it's foaming away nicely now.
Magnum was the name of me dog for many years !

My friend, it takes one Hell of a man to read this entire thread, from the ground. Damned if I'd do it! That's where someone some time since tapped me on the shoulder and asked if I couldn't go back to the first page and summarise. Which, I believe (?) I did?

What ever. Ye've done pretty much exactly as I suggest, anyway. The not having DSM and using BKE is like these people who bottle it. Theirs will have gained an edge of sharpness in the neck. Yours will have lost a possibly perceivable edge of 'Mouth Feel'. Potentially a degree stronger than my original stuff though?

I wouldn't sweat it. Ye'll enjoy ye stout. It'll be at least every bit as good as my 'worst'!

Just drawing off a FV of my 'Special Reserve' as ye read this. Then it's lights out for the last disc of " Madmen ~ Season One "

Maybe one of the kindly mods, in the spirit of the season, could copy'n'paste the summary and make it a locked sticky for reference purposes, for old hands and newcomers alike?

*** Gives a Robert De Niro Type Nod Of Approval To That Idea ***

Sort of; " Ditch's Stout: The Short Answer. " ? I could live with that.

Locking the f**ker is the key though. This Thread was originally created and Stuck, to be just that ....

Couldn't the first post on the thread contain all the up-to-date info ? And then just refer to that when appropriate ? Ditch can edit that first post and modify it as he sees fit.

Andy; I've just checked the first post of this thread. Ye right. I don't see what more anyone could want? :| I've some time since spelled out exactly what I do, there. No need to mess around with anything now. Just down to the individual to read it, if they want to.

It's not that hard really - read the first post, decide if this is the brew for you, realise there are fifty something pages of people saying how good it is, follow the instructions, enjoy!

And last visited this forum on the 15th. His stout should have been well and truly in hand by then.

My god. What have we done to the guy?!

Not sure what I did that last week, but that stout is good. Made the mistake of fermenting in one of those betterbottle carboys I got given, then went away for the weekend. Beer foam party on my return. But the stout, can't believe something so good after only a week or so in the secondary.

Fermented in a Carboy?!? F**k me! If the temperature had got to that ....? Well, I genuinely suspect it would have been like that Japanese girl, upside down in the shower and blowing orange stuff like a whale.

Anyway, quite enough of either such images.

I don't even know what " Secondary Fermentation " is all about. Don't care either. Never bothered with it and my stuff suits me. Goes to show though; It's a brilliant kit and a robust recipe. People go out of their way to f**k about with what I said. Yet Still it defeats them and comes out great

And, Lee; While I don't drink with my eyes, mate? I must say that nitro head does look f**king fantastic, mate! =D> Give a man a serious thirst just looking at that photo!
