Hi,
I'm going to get cracking with my 2nd homebrew this weekend (did a Cooper's last month).
Got a Muntons Connoisseurs Continental Lager kit.
I've got 2x 500g light spray malt and 1x 500g hopped light spray malt. Any ideas what would work best?
Thinking maybe 1kg of brew sugar and 500g of light spraymalt?
The kit recommends using a different superior yeast for better flavour. Anyone have any yeast recommendations for this specific style kit or any others?
Thanks

Re: Muntons Continental Lager - yeast?
The most neutral lager yeast at any normal/typical fermentation temperature is likely to be Fermentis Saflager W-34/70.

Thanks mate, ordered some then.
Would you go light spray malt or hopped light for this?
And for 23L 1kg sugar 500g dme is okay?

I haven't done extract brewing since the late 80's to early 90's, but if the kit consists of liquid malt extract, and the instruction is to add to this 1 Kg. of table sugar, I would add your 1.5 Kg. of spray malts in place of the sugar.

I used coopers enhancer 3 with this kit turn out really nice and tasted great, the colour was a lot darker than expected looked more like an ale to me.
I used the yeast supplied with the kit.

I used coopers brew enhancer 3 with their Canadian Blonde kit and totally agree that it was darker and more ale like. While I got a great head on the beer when pouring it died pretty quickly, whether this was due to carbonation though I'm not sure.
I bought the ferments yeast mentioned above but didn't realise it was a lager yeast needing to be pitched at 15 not 18

On a popular USA forum many are using Fermentis W-34/70 yeast to ferment Lagers at 20 degrees C. (68 F.). Plus Brulosophy performed the attached experiment:

In the end, a majority of the testers preferred the Lager fermented at 21 C. with W-34/70 to the one fermented at 10 C.
