mini kegs

Post by DRB » Sun Oct 22, 2006 8:40 pm

Looking on an ameircan site,I see that some of them use a mini keg set up,I think they are 5lt, can we over here get them as they look just the thing that would do me.They also covert a cool box and use it as a kegrigater with taps fitted, to keep the beer cool once you've chilled it in the fridge.

I'm not sure about homebrew supplies but several UK brewers sell beer in minikegs - Hopback for one. Maybe you could give them a bell and ask?

Beats the Watney Red Barrel party 7 can hands down(showing me age  ),those things were nearly impossible to get into

Would those mini kegs be easy to clean and sterilize, as the hole looks pretty small on the top?

Sometimes get Stella in Party Kegs at Tescos.
The cooler is called a "jockey box" right? You can also fill them with ice and run pipes through to use as a beer cooler. Would be cool for partys.

I've still to buy a keg (well I have bought 3 or 4 in the past but this is before I was brewing so bined them after use).

I am sure you could add your priming sugar and fermented wort and reseal and then dispense at a later date.

Would need to try it first though. Would be great if it worked :D

I live near Beers Of Europe and they stock those Summer Lightning 5L minikegs. They're about £16 I think? They can also get in the polypins of any of the Woodfordes beers - they get them delivered once a week. Unless I get my new brewery set up soon I can see a polypin of Wherry heading my way for Christmas :D
