Boiler Lagging

Does anyone lag their boilers, to conserve heat, if so what materials do you use and how would you secure it to the boiler.

Thanks
David

Hi David

I insulate my boiler with hot water cylinder cover stuff like this:

I got mine for about £8 from ebay including postage if I recall rightly, so don't pay silly money for it.

Here's an old picture. I connected it to the boiler with that elastic stuff you use to connect stuff to a roof rack, if you know what I mean (from a pound shop).

The benefit of this stuff is that it is plastic, so any spillages can be wiped off; on the other hand, if you use an old sleaping bag you don't have to pay anything.

I use what used to be a keg chiller -

The boiler's being used as a mash tun in that pic, but you can see the insulation jacket.

I use hot water cylinder lagging as well for my boiler and then transfer to my fv. I isulate the fv all year, whether I am adding heat or not to try to iron out temperature fluctuations. I got mine free from my Local Authority and it comes with the string to tie it round with.
