Cooling workshop?
Cooling workshop?
Hi All,
All my beer making and storage is based in my workshop at the bottom of the garden.
This is where i also store vast quantities of bottled ale awaiting drinking.
Unfortunately the workshop can get a tad warm in the summer months, does anyone know of an efficent and cheap way to cool the workshop.
Some sort of tempreture controlled chiller unit maybe?
has anyone else got a similar problem and how did you overcome it?
I cant put the bottles in a fridge/freeezer cos there's to many of them.
I know i should be drinking them faster but that just makes me fall over a lot....
Any help would be gratefully appreciatted

help in drinking them faster?
have you looked at jim's project for extending his fridge?
he used it for fermentation, but i,'m sure you could use the design to make a bigger beer fridge.

Can you insulate your workshop?
Re: Cooling workshop?
would insulating it prevent it from getting warm or hold the heat in?
what about some form of air conditioning?

Re: Cooling workshop?
Insulation works both ways, cool in summer, warm in winter

Re: Cooling workshop?
My shed is insulated and it still gets too warm, currently 27.5c @ 8pm, and it's shaded by trees.
Re: Cooling workshop?
Sell up and move to Iceland, then buy a heat pad/belt!
I'm suffering the same thing and am looking at freecycle for a fridge to put my FV in..
Got a Maxi110 for the beer tho..

Re: Cooling workshop?
Find a portable A/C unit on freecycle. Vent the exhaust outside. Other than that you can get a complete AC system from about £170 now days and the running amps are low. My one runs at 3amp. Try looking on the Climate Centre website.
Re: Cooling workshop?
A friend has just suggested to me about using an extractor fan, maybe this would be a good idea especially if used with a timer.
Anyone tried this?
