Immersion Cooler

Post by Bazil » Sun Dec 17, 2006 1:59 am

Hi,

I'm still very green behind the ears regarding AG brewing, I've just purchased an immersion cooler but the instructions are telling me not to use it in the boiler but to transfer the wort to another container then cool.

I was under the impression that it was ok to say place the cooler in the boiler 15 min before the end of the boil and cool once the boil was complete without transferring.

Could someone please help?

Cheers
Barry

Yeah, I use it in the boiler and i'm sure a number of others on here do the same. Infact i've reduced my chill-haze problems with this method.

I used to use mine in the fermenter years ago but then changed to sticking it in the boiler.

This meant I no longer needed to transfer boiling wort and also the chiller got sterilised in the wort more thoroughly than I would ever do it with bruclean or whatever I was using.
