Maxi beer Cooling

Post by RabMaxwell » Mon Jan 08, 2007 2:36 pm

Hello all looking towards the summer especially if it's another hot one again. I am wondering if i can increase the cooling efficiency of my Maxi Beer cooler. I use the python to cool one fermenter & a submersible pump to cool the other one. I have read of people using food grade antifreeze or salt mixed into the water bank to get it cooler. Is anyone doing this with success. Cheers

Do you use glycol at all?
Worth speaking to Geoff @ DTS - he knows all about this kind of stuff

Not sure DaaB i can override the thermostat on the cooler as i have spare external thermostats. last summer it kept my fermenting temperature spot on. But when crash cooling at the end of fermentation it takes a couple of days to drag it down. Just that i was reading about people in the US putting antifreeze or salt in and getting them down to about -5oc & was wondering if anyone here was doing the same. Cheers
