I've got a 32L thermos coolbox mashtun. According to a few retailers these will take 10kg of grain.
I'm looking to do a 32L batch of Fullers ESB clone 1.054
@ 70% efficiency it takes 10.18kg of grain & I fly sparge so
I need a bit of head space to work with.
Pale Malt 6.96kg
Flaked Maize 2.15kg
Crystal Malt 1.07kg
Can it be done?
I know for sure I'll have to reduce my strike water from 4L / kg

Cool Box mash tun - max capacity?
It's going to be tight, but should be ok!
I believe when the HB shops quote 10kg capacity it is with the normal grain/liquer ratio in mind (2 pints per pound of grain?)...using 10.18kg will mean you will have to use a very slightly stiffer mash, which may mean you have to mash a bit longer that's all?

Hi Frothy,
I recently did a double EB Stout brew which was about 8Kg of grain in my 28/32litre Thermos, I was worried there wasn't going to be enough room but there was no problem at all, it still had a quarter/fifth of the cool box to go
even if it's up to the lid it'll be fine, get it in the tun matey
