Strange Pin locks

Post by TheFlatulentCow » Wed Feb 15, 2012 2:34 pm

I recently picked up another corny keg for a reasonable price and when I got it home I noticed it had a plastic lid and pin lock posts but not as I know them. I understand the plastic lid isn't an issue but the posts I suspect have been modified and had these copper pipes added. Before I remove the pipes I wanted to check with you good people to make sure. I don't have any pin lock disconnects so I'll probably have to change them anyway.

Here's a picture:

Are these modified or are they some strange way of connecting?

Cheers.

Hi

Yep, someone's butchered those posts! Looking at the amount of grime, dirt and abuse I'd imagine that keg may have been used for some purpose other than homebrew. I've heard of all sorts of crap ending up in corny's. Solvents, cleaning fluids etc

If your confident about the history then you will defo need to replace the posts with new and remember to order a new ring kit also.

regards

I believe it was going to be used as a water tank in a camper van but ended up sitting in a loft for years instead. Now I need to find some replacement posts with poppets at a good price. Any suggestions?

Abbeychart £4-5 depending on which posts you want.
