NTC Probes
Apart from Forttex, who sell NTP and NTP+ probes [same thing, I'm told], I'm just wondering if anyone sources the plastic coated sensor probes from anywhere else?
I find it difficult to clean off the white deposits which accumulate on the twin cable type [NTP+]. It's the groove between the wires, mainly.
My 30Amp controller has finally arrived from China, and I want to replace the metal tipped probe.

Hot water?
Citric Acid - It could be limescale.
I live in a medium / hard water area and mines fine with the above approach.

Re: NTC Probes
I use the plastic NPT probe from Forttex, it's a replacement for the ATC-800 and is a round cable.
Used with my TC-10 required a 1c recalibration.

I have looked at that one, but wondered if there were any alternatives.Scooby wrote:I use the plastic NPT probe from Forttex, it's a replacement for the ATC-800 and is a round cable.

Re: NTC Probes
Having purchased an NTP+ sensor from Forttex, the sensor now gives an error reading when used with my ATC800+.
[Possibly because I sterilized it with boiling water, instead of the usual peracetic.] However, for some reason, it still works fine with my 30Amp WH7016M !
Now that Forttex seems to have gone, these plastic coated sensors seem to be difficult to find at a reasonable price. It's almost as cheap to buy a complete STC-1000 for about £12 odd, whereas the sensors that I've found so far are a tenner on their own.
However, I did find these on ebay, from seller misol04, though...
probe of temperature sensor for water tank, sensor tube for solar water heater

It looks like it could be a cheap thermowell, although it'll need a ½" stainless backnut, by the look of it. [Edit: it's ¾" - see below]. [Re-Edit - It is ½" after all!]
The seller also has these sensors which fit...
Temperature Sensor NTC10K for Solar Water Heater, PVC cable, 3 meters

Seller will combine postage, so just under a tenner for both.
Has anyone purchased either/both of these?

Re: NTC Probes
I got the thermowells for my build, top notch for the price, either an NTP or BSP 1/2" locknut will work.
I used a couple of m20 SS ebay washers too to fix in my pots.

Re: NTC Probes
That's good to know.
I think that I've got a few stainless ½BSP nuts left over, when I replaced the seals on some Masons beer engines, recently.

Re: NTC Probes
Well, I ordered the thermowell, and it arrived this morning.
Unfortunately, it has a ¾" BSP thread [DN15, whatever that is], and I've only got brass in ¾".
Any ideas where to source a stainless one?
Edit: It was ½BSP after all!

Re: NTC Probes
I have an ATC800+ and, although it doesn't say so this sensor on ebay looks like the identical beast.
Best wishes

Yes, that looks the same, but only 1.5m. A bit steep at £14.75, as well.Dave S wrote:I have an ATC800+ and, although it doesn't say so this sensor on ebay looks like the identical beast.
I've ordered an STC-1000, with 2m length sensor/probe, for £12.79.

tho this http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/nps-n ... -d_45.html
suggests DN15 is 1/2"?? 1/2" bsp/ntp is about 21-22mm in diameter,
