Thanks for the reply, yep gone down a very similar route to that, managed to get some 18v 1.9A internal PSU for monitors / laptops @ £5.00 each to power the things. Might have to pop along to Maplin for the knobs tho. (getting fed up waiting 4 weeks for things to arrive).

Are you going for the "pink" light option as Kev used? :D

Highlander you might want to get a heatsink for the lm317 as it close to it max current raiting.personally for anything over an amp i likes the lm338t
barney if your buying a lot of bits in 1 hit cpc are a dam sight cheaper than craplins, just the p+p, like always is the killer unless you spend over £45

"crapins" :D :D

I think having just bought a further 4 x 22mm LED indicators (other ones didnt arrive from HK) I have either bought (or waiting to arrive) everything I need for the build, apart from the knobs. + I`m bound to run out of some 10 SWG wire at some point :D .

The LM338T + pots I went for were already made http://www.audiowind.com/pdf/A-210EP.pdf 18v in 1.5 to 15v out again.

Cheers

Thanks, That sound like an idea. i'm going to lay it out on the PCB before I fit it to a case. is the back plane common? can I just hook them up to the same heat sink. I seem to remember seeing dual ones somewhere.

no acording to the data sheat the case is conected to the Vout pin, you can still use the same heatsink, but youll also need an insulated mounting kit. However id go for a 1 per regulator, makes laying the circuit out easier, something like RN78K from maplins should do

Just a little advice please on the use of heatsinks with the 40A SSR`s, on the EB website they cut a hole through the enclosure and mount the SSR`s directly to the heatsink.

Is this really necessary or can I just sandwich the SSR / 1.5mm stainless enclosure / heatsink?

My heatsinks are inside my (plastic sandwich for now) box and I often run the pid for 48-72 hours when cooking joints of meat without any heat build up insider the box.

Glad to say my final PID has arrived today, together the remaining LCD lights and one of the audiowind voltage variable pcbs (more on order just coming 1 at a time), so a few more experiements + a few more holes in the front panel then I`m nearly ready to put everything together.

Just waiting for the pump LCD dispalys to arrive so that I can cut the final holes in the front panel, then on with the build.

Someone had to ask :) not the cheapest of things to buy but heres the ebay advert I originally found them ON as I had bought a bulk lot I got them for £1.30 each. + 99p postage for the lot. I`m very pleased with the labels swift tag has made and will set the cabinet off a treat, albeit not the cheapest option, but the man behind the company is polite and very professional with a quick turn around time.

The other company I tried first wanted 99p per label but after nearly a month of waiting I asked for the money to be refunded.

As for a "Thingamabob" surely everyman should have one :) and the "Dont Panic" I thought it was fairly pointless and too obvious having a label saying "Alarm" :D

Hi, I'm Steve and I own Swift Tag, just a quick post to say thanks to barneey for the kind words and if I can be of help to anyone please feel free to contact me.

I am a bitter drinker and have made homebrew in the past albeit from kits. So thanks for reviving an old interest, must get the brewkit out of the loft!!!!

Had a look around the site, what a fantastic goldmine of information and experience.

I hope this isn't taken as spam posting, just a heartfelt thank you.

Cheers all :-D
