I`ve tested the little device today with a 15mm pipe and pump and it produces quite a good result. (similar to the plastic ones you can buy - but more heavy duty)
A few piccys of the shiny

Is it a sparger.

That's what I do with mine Deller12. I attach it to the output of my counterflow so it causes plenty of splashing for wort aeration. I know Vossy uses one as a return manifold in his HERMS and when pumped like that, it does cause a pretty effective spray pattern.Deller12 wrote:That looks a good bit of kitI was thinking of making something to try and agitate the wort before dumping into the fermenter.
What sort of tubing does this fit onto please?boingy wrote:I use the plastic one from Hop and Grape to aerate the wort as it transfers to FV (gravity fed). Works well.
There are two sizes - one 10mm is designed to fit 10mm outer diameter tube (stainless tube is readily available in this size) and one 15mm designed to fit 15mm outer diameter tube (e.g. standard 15mm copper tube).oz11 wrote:What sort of tubing does this fit onto please?boingy wrote:I use the plastic one from Hop and Grape to aerate the wort as it transfers to FV (gravity fed). They both have a screw which allows them to be "nipped up" onto the tube so either can be used with smaller tube than they were designed for. I have seen them used on plastic tubing too and also with a piece of plastic tubing user to make a 15mm one fit a smaller tube (i.e. the plastic tube acting like a collar).
Hope this helps
Oh sorry, I didn't realise you meant the plastic ones. I've not got a plastic one so can't be sure but as far as I know, the hole in the middle is smaller than 10mm so you'd need tubing smaller diameter than that so you can push it on.oz11 wrote:Well...kindaI was really asking about the cheaper plastic ones, If I bought a stainless one I think the weight of it would pull the tubing off my boiler tap (I run an all-plastic set-up
)
