Gas Management Board Setup

Post by Mattzm » Tue Oct 15, 2013 10:44 pm

Lo folks.

Got me one of Norm's rather swish gas management boards and a legitimate CO2 bottle from a reputable vendor and a brew just about ready to be put into the keg.

However, when screwed in as tight as I can manage the high pressure hose leaks at the regulator end (i.e. around the hose/regulator screw point) . The instruction sheet is rather...spartan shall we say and the only instruction I get is "Adjust Regulators" for this part. Is it simply I need to grab myself a shifty spanner and tighten it to get a complete seal or do I need to adjust the regulator beforehand?

If there's an already existing thread or site that details the setup please feel free to just link it, I won't be offended. Just don't want to make a mess of my shiny new toy.

For reference, its a standard 14lb CO2 bottle so there shouldn't be a problem there, to my understanding.

Cheers!

The screws on the individual regs are counter-intuitive. You screw them in for higher pressure, screw them out for lower.

use gas tape or plumbers tape to wrap round the bottle thread, also check the seal washer, if its been attached to a gnarled up bottle valve face it may need replacing, check your bottle valve mating face too.
a leak at the board end however is a bit more serious and indicates a dodgy hose, exchanging that isnt easy as the threads are sealed and it took me a friend and a 4tf length of steel pipe to extend a tight gripping wrench to budge mine..

Just an update, grabbed a large adjustable spanner from work and tightened it another quarter turn I couldn't manage with my hands. Everything is now airtight and wonderful. Such a nice piece of kit. Can't wait to mount it all properly and get it nice looking.

And on the 5th day, there was carbonation!
