What size stir bar?

Post by Monkeybrew » Tue Nov 18, 2014 6:19 pm

Hi

I'm putting together a stir plate, and wondered what size stir bar I need for a 2L conical flask?

Cheers

When I built mine I tried all shapes and sizes. I've finally found that a triangular bar works the best as it doesn't fly off at all. All the others did no matter what I did. I've got a 2ltr flask. The stir bar is about one inch long and works fine.

Hope that's of some help

I didn't try a triangle bar, but I did find that the longer ones hold the magnet better than short ones. I didn't find any disadvantage to a longer bar.
