thermometer for HLT / MT

what is the best way to get temps from HLT/MT

don't really fancy drilling any holes in things.

So looking at digital/ probes to just drop in both that will track temps accurately

I use my second STC-1000 for my HLT & MT. I find it works well at the higher ranges just as well as it does at the fermentation temperatures.
Just make sure that the prob is sitting well inside the mash before covering the MT to obtain accurate readings.

Ah ok. I currently have another stc-1000 on way in the post.

I had read some where else that it would not handle the temps from a HLT?

Once it hits 100c will it just stop reading temps?

The one l have emits an alarm sound and the reading turns into 2 dashes and returns to normal once pulled out, but that's only in the boiler. There is no need to go that high in the HLT or MT, unless you preboil your water as part of your water treatment.
