Cheap Trial Jar

Post by Nunez100 » Sun Aug 23, 2015 2:40 pm

Hi all, I haven't been on JBK in a while, but I thought I would post a link to a cheap 'trial jar' I bought recently, in case anyone else finds it useful. I did a quick search and I don't think it's been mentioned before (hopefully not because it is a daft idea).

They are available in Ikea, meant to hold a single flower, and are £2. Turns out they work quite well with the standard sized hydrometer.

They don't have volume markings obviously, but I don't find I use those anyway when taking a sample. They have an extra wide base that makes them hard to tip over, and the glass is very thick.

I thought it was a useful item, as this sort of glassware is easy to break, so it's nice to find a cheap version that you can buy a few of.

I know it's not a huge saving on a proper measuring cylinder, but thought I would mention it anyway:

Sorry, maybe not such an original idea then!

I've done it too, but the vase was too big. And then I broke it. Maybe a trip to Ikea is on the cards — I need a new kitchen too.

My trial jar is from wilko and cost me £2.50. Don't know if that's cheap or the going rate.
