Hop Spider Mesh Size ??
I am looking to make a Hop Spider from Stainless Steel Mesh and thinking that 300 Micron is about right but not sure what to order as most Companys seem to state #sizes like #50 or #60. After looking at it am I right in thinking that #50 is 300 Micron ?? ..

Re: Hop Spider Mesh Size ??
Info not needed anymore as I have just bought a large one from Ivor at Bridgewater Brewery, very nice guy, I well recommend him.

got a link??
i have eyed the US made versions a while but the spot welding never looked clean enough for me (blue mesh etc) while yours looks very clean and post weld treated.
my current spider is a grainbab supported with a copper tube frame, the bags double walled sides are a bit too resistant to the recirculation flow requiring throttling back on the pump.

Re: Hop Spider Mesh Size ??
I have had a stack of PM,s about this Hop Spider all asking where it came from, so to save on answering all and further PM,s here is the link and the cost was £39.99 plus Courier cost £3.60 but because I had a Coupon Code I got a discount of 10% making my total cost including delivery £39.59. For those who are members of " The Home Brew Festival " you will have this code.

Looks the job
How far does this sit off the edge of the kettle, I have a circumferential element so keen to avoid interference

Re: Hop Spider Mesh Size ??
Now that really depends on the depth of YOUR kettle but the length of the Spider is 14 inches or 35.5 cm if that helps.weetabixface wrote:Looks the job

I do apologise, I misread your question, when it arrives I can check for you but if you want a quicker answer then I would check with the vendor, he is a very nice guy and quite helpfull, I am sure if you contact Ivor at Bridgewater Brewing he will be more than pleased to help.weetabixface wrote:Depth isn't the issue, from the EDGE was the question
Re: Hop Spider Mesh Size ??

Re: Hop Spider Mesh Size ??
loving the new word in my vocabulary "circumferential"
perhaps a more traditional hop spider woudl suit you better weetabixface? 3 x 10mm equal end feed t pieces and less than 2m of 10mm copper tube is all you need for a copper suspension loop to suspend a pull tie net bag in/over the pot centre.. just put an s bend in the legs to lift the rim up to take the net bag and secure it tight..
