Out of interest, why would a counter pressure filler foam less, as the principle is very similar to the beer gun? Is it because unlike the
beer gun, theres no rubber bit at the end that the beer flows over?

Maybe I'm missing something wrt how counter pressure fillers work?

Edit: I just thought, do the valves help a lot, wrt reducing beer flow?

Counter pressure is better than a beer gun because it keeps the beer being poured into the bottle under co2 pressure thus preventing the beer foaming while filling. A beergun does not. A beergun just's squirts co2 into the bottom of a bottle and then, without any counter pressure you fill the bottle. Unless you ave the beer very cold and not overcarbonated it will fill.

No commercial bottling company uses the beergun way as it would not suceed.

Oh interesting, so to clarify, you leave the co2 tap of a counter pressure filler, on, whilst the beer is also flowing or something?

Oh I got it now, so it's able to completely purge air and vent the co2, and has a bung to stop air getting in too, neat.

that's a happy bonus. foaming occurs when the beer experiences a drop in pressure. by keeping the bottle under pressure - only just under the pressure of the keg - the beer doesn't foam like it would when just pouring a pint out of the tap

That big machine would be lovely! Bottle my whole batch in 92.5 seconds! Just might be a bit too shiney for me.

And it's lovely that people have dropped the less important things in their lives to post a reply - I'm very grateful. There's even been a couple of interesting suggestions on CP fillers!

There is a lot of posts on here, if you could have dropped the less important things in your life to use the search function you could have found some interesting suggestions, without even having to post, but then I guess it's much easier to ask a question, that's already been asked, and expect someone to immediately reply with the relevant information for you.
