Thermometer batteries (lr44)

Post by Haydnexport » Sat May 06, 2017 10:42 am

Has anyone had trouble with these batteries ? I have this thermometer http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Comark-Dishwa ... SwpkFY65je everytime i change the battery it works for 20 mins then the low battery icon comes up , ive checked the batteries with a voltmeter and they show around 1.3 /1.4 v at this time , down from 1.55 /1.6 to start . I have bought batteries from a shop and ebay , but i'm thinking they might be old / sub standard , even if they are duracel / energiser . Anyone have an outlet for them that will guarantee good cells ?

ebay is notorious for fake and out of date batteries, however ive been using £shop coin batteries for a while now in similar thermometers and the car key fob and am getting a few months from each cell before they die..

however if the thermometer is draining batteries on a regular basis perhaps its not just the batteries? is the thermometer within its 5year guarantee period? if so i would contact Nesbits (if you got it from them?) if outside warranty perhaps stripping down and wiping over the pcb with isopronanol to clean off any salt traces that might be shorting it out??

ebay and far east bargains are a total gamble but if buying in the uk high st then i would assume most cells bought would be genuine if you paid the premium price for known brands like duracell.

I think it is the thermometer, i pulled the last battery out , been in it a week and reads 0v, not even a beep on my multimeter. It was from nisbets , and ive emailed them
