S30 cylinder

Post by matti » Mon Jul 10, 2006 9:47 pm

Hello,
Iv been using a Hambleton Bard S30 cylinder on my king keg. My dad bought it about 10 year ago intending to start brewing but never got round to it so i thought i might as well put it to use.

Iv used it about 5 times to top up the pressure on the keg but iv just tried to use it today and the pin that sticks out that gets pushed in to release the gas just moves freely in and out and i can get no gas out of it. Is it a spring that pushes this out or is it the pressure inside. The last time i used it a while ago a little bit of gas kept coming out of it afterwards. I put it under a hot tap for a while and the gas seemed to stop coming out (it may have just slowed down so that i hadn't noticed it was still coming out).

what i want to know is, is the cylinder empty because it could have still being leaking out, or is their just a problem with the valve on it. I'm pretty gutted because my fixby Gold is ready for drinking but the pressure in the keg is really low and iv only mangaed to get a few pints out of it and won't get chance to go to the brewshop till thursday.

Thankyou

Maybe it's been leaking, more likely you've simply used all the gas. A faulty valve isn't an issue because you'll swop it for a different bottle.

Thanks, thought it must be empty. Iv just bought another 2 kegs second hand off ebay which are both top tap so i think il just have to get a refill and hope that i works ok for me.

This is a really frustrating problem with the hambleton bard cylinder. This happened to my first two bulbs and I barely got any use out of them. When you return it to your homebrew shop just tell them what happened and they might give you a free refill.
