SS Pipe Whirlpool Arm
SS Pipe Whirlpool Arm
Hi,
I am after a 1/2" SS pipe Whirlpool Arm (circa 350mm long) for by Kettle Pot, and though I can get one from the Brewpi Shop, but was thinking if there was an UK supplier I could purchase on e from?
Though I could make one up in copper, but I would prefer to have one in stainless steel.
Any suggestions / recommendation would be welcomed. Thanks.

1/2 pipe or to fit in 1/2 bsp fittings? Could buy your own pipe and bend it.
Re: SS Pipe Whirlpool Arm
Yes, to fit a 1/2" BSP fitting. Thanks.
Also, I haven't got a proper pipe bender.

depending on how much brewing you do , might be a worthwhile investment a pipe bender , £26 in argos, bargain.

Maltmiller and BrewUK both do whirlpool fittings. The Maltmiller one is just a bulkhead, a 90 degree elbow and a barb fitting.
I've been using a Brewbuilder 1/2" Pickup XL fitted into a 90 degree elbow myself.
Could do with more of a bend, but does create a whirlpool effect.

Ha that will probably get a 50/50 response.. i always thought any obstruction in the kettle such as elements temp probes etc and therfore a submerged flow feed would be an impeadence to a successful whirlpool and cone build up, until i typed as such into a brewforum conversation only to be answered with a utube of the busiest kettle ive seen made from and old copper immersion tank with the hex coil still in place along with element and temp probe..
And it was succesfully whilpooled in the vid and drained leaving behind a visible cone of debris too..
Perhaps where there is a will there is a way

At that price I decided I would buy one. It's arrived and for the life of me I can't see how you assemble it and the pipe not fall out.dbambrick996 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 13, 2018 11:53 amI built one using an elbow and the below

Im planning on building one with left over 10mm copper pipe swan over kettle side then bend it around the circumference over the pot i think that might work

Re: SS Pipe Whirlpool Arm
That depends on whether you give credence to the claim that hot side aeration is a bad thing or not, or even a thing. Brewers who like to brew with as little O2 influence as they can would say below the line. They might even argue don't whirlpool at all. I'm not convinced it matters much but if you can always keep it below the surface and parallel to it it should be better from a practical point of view.
