Which Tap
Which Tap
Hi, Help any idea
Going to order a Corny of Norman, asked him what taps he has? his reply was tell me what you want and take it from there.
Trouble is what do I want - what is available - what do you look for - a good all round tap that will fit to a bulkhead I intend to make and couple up with push fix fitting. Is control flow and sparkler the one to go for?
Cheers

I'll try and remember to take a picture of the tap tonight and i'll post it up for you.
The Tap was one supplied by Norman.
In the mean time i'll have a look see if i have any pics which show the tap very well.
Ian
**EDIT**
Here we go, its not a great pic as i've cropped it from another one and blown it up a bit.
But it shows the tap in place on the corny, there is a hole drilled into the rubber top and the tap mounted into it. There is some packing on the outside as the thread on the tap is quite long, I'm hopeing its long enough to allow me to mount it through a fridge wall at some point
Also the tap has a flow control lever bottom of the pic.

Check http://www.forumforfree.com/forums/inde ... wtopic=565 thread out from a few months ago. These are my taps. I bought 3 Cornies from Norm & the taps for a Tenner each from my HBS.
These work great, have flow control & sparkler. Although I don't use the sparkler as the beer would foam too much. The taps have a 3/8 speed fit fitting on them & the other end of the pipe just pushes straight onto the barbed out disconnect.
With the flow control I can keep the keg pressure to around 10-12 psi & reduce the flow to stop the beer hitting the bottom of my glass & bouncing back into my face. It doesn't seem to foam up either, as long as you serve relatively slowly.
Norm was knocking out Cornies with these same taps already fitted a while back. May be worth enquiring with him if these suit your needs?

No worries DAT
I would love to know how Norm makes a profit on the keg and tap at £40.
I've looked for these taps and equivalants are £25-£46.
I think they look great for the cost. I am going to make a kegerator, US style with these taps on the front of the fridge. It will be an upright fridge with 4 cornies 2 on top of 2 with gas cylinder at the back.
I really wanted to do JA's set up with the Cobra fonts but brewfit just got back to me with a quote of £286

thats an ingenious bulkhead fitting - puuuurfect for a kegerator
I've been making enquirys recently with Brewfitt and Porter for prices on their taps
similar kind of tap and a lot more money although the porter ones are probably the nicest taps I've ever seen.
Lager Mixed Gas
http://www.brewfitt.com/ = £30 £35
http://www.porta.co.uk/ = £44 £47
Matt
P.S. Vossy - I just picked up a 4 tap chrome cobra on Ebay for £50 + £20delivery

Thanks for that frothy.....you're evil personified
I've been scouring ebay for one, what search did you put in?
I've tried cobra, beer taps, beer fonts, beer tower....no joy
I might not be able to use the cobra now anyway. I was going to get a chest freezer like JA's but I can't stand the co2 tank up inside the freezer, and I don't think you can lie them down, so I'll have to go for an upright fridge instead
