Mini Keg for Cask conditioned?

Post by monk » Tue Aug 15, 2006 5:58 am

Hi all,

(I posted this question on a US forum and got some good feedback, but I thought I'd ask your opinions, too--as our elder brothers in ale, so to speak.)

I picked up (and promptly emptied) one of those DAB 5 Liter minikegs and was thinking of using it to dispense part of my next batch, cask-conditioned real ale style. The minikeg has a bung with a vent tab in the top and a pull out spigot in the bottom. My plan is to pull the bung out of the top and fill the keg with primed homebrew, then replace the bung. After it carbonates, I think I can just pop the tab on the top and dispense from the spigot. Anyone tried this? I don't mind having to drink the brew in a day or two. Nor do I mind low carbonation (I actually prefer it).

Please give me your input, guys. Thanks in advance. The MOnk.
