Transporting cornies

Post by mysterio » Sat Sep 02, 2006 4:13 pm

Will I have to leave the gas connected if I'm transporting a keg? I'm a bit worried about the gas line coming free while i'm driving (especially the way I drive  )

Can you take off the grey disconnect while the keg is pressurised or will that result in a fountain of beer? I'd rather not find out the hard way...

You can take it off, the valves are self sealing on both the cornies and the disconnects.

As EB says, just pull them off. I take my cornies in the car and also carry them about at home. No probs at all when disconnecting them.

If driving in the car with them though, you may need to leave them to settle for quite a few hours, as the beer becomes somewhat lively as you can imagine. It's just the same as when a pub takes delivery of kegs from the draymen driving them around the country & throwing them down pub cellars, they need to settle before serving.

Also the same as the old favourite of shaking a can of coke before giving it to your best mate to open.  How I loved doing that.

Your best mate drinks coke? Suppose that's good news for your beer supply RR! :D

QUOTE carry them about at home

 Have you also got one of those water bottle connects that you see mountain bikers with so you can have a slurp without stopping

Sounds like a great idea, hadn't thought about that one.
