Is the timer a countdown timer or used to control switching the brewery on in the early hours :) And where did you purchase it and how much ?

For the time being it will only be wired for a "verbal" alarm system via the siren on the panel.

Future upgrade may include switching the HLT on / off.

As to where i bought it = Ebay, will look up the exact details later for you

Having seen a few threads recently regarding PID`s etc, and now having nearly completed the layout of my brewing equipment, I thought it was high time I should start wiring up the controller (just ordered some more chassis connectors for the PIDs from neutrix), I`ll cut the remainder of the holes this afternoon and start wiring, just hope my enthusiasm lasts this time to the end of the build.

No idea what happened to the other pics of the build so far, but heres another...

That is ridiculously over the top, completely unnecessary and I love it!

Looking good - and ever more massive! It should be a work of art when all nicely labelled up.

Well I managed to drill another 9 holes this afternoon before I burned another cheap drill out (forgotten how thick the ss box is), at least the holes are now drilled for the power side of things, the sensor holes can wait until the parts arrive. Next up will be the "Beaker" style heat sink hole although I dont know if I even need it with the shear mass of the box? , then its wiring time.

No big red button saying brew I`m afraid, not for a few months anyway ;)

True but isn`t everything stainless? ;)

As for the labels.... no where did I put those #-o

Barneey,

What are the small digital meters for? I'm guessing dc voltage levels for solar pumps. If so, what are you using for the voltage sources (ac/dc transformer maybe?) and what are you using to adjust the voltage?

I'll have a decent look through this thread when i get a chance as it looks interesting and i've not come across it yet.

Yep your right the digital meters are to display the variable voltage to the solar pumps, at the time of the original build I had a 3V system all on the same level (hence 4 outlets). Now I`ve used the system a little more I gone back to the keep is simple train of thought with a 3V gavity fed system, so the only pumps needed are for the RIMS system the boiler/fermenter and possible recirculate in the HLT. The variable voltage boards were sourced through ebay (china supplier) and came with there own pots, very similar to Kev888 purpose made controller electronics (but already prebuilt). If I can find the item I`ll post the info.

I`ll have to get another few labels made as have changed from HERMS to RIMS #-o

I`m hoping by the time everthing is finished my brewday will be a simple case clicking a few switches + ingredients, everything else being already wired and plumbed in (no more swappping hoses / leads etc)

Looking good so far. Now the fun bit of wiring it up! How come you are using the american connector and not the 32a powercon for the main input?

Are these the boards you used? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5AMP-Adjustab ... 5d33527654

I was trying to follow the electric brewery web site as much as possible hence the american style plug albeit a 3 pin version, it wasnt until the powercon ones that were pointed out by TMH I went for everything else in that range, again tho when the powercon sensors were bought to my attention on the other thread, I ditched the ones I already had and bought some new ones.

As for the link to the boards, yep they look exactly the same, for the dc power source to the boards I managed to get some "monitor" regulated power supplies at very resonable cost, each having there own separte supply & board.

Progress so far today, I cut the hole in the top of the cabinet for the heat sink, all the holes are drilled except the 4 new sensor holes, being 24 mm it was an odd size to drill (so am awaiting a new drill bit).

I will only start wiring once every hole is cut, as I dont want any stainless swarf getting anywhere I dont want it to.

BTW I dont know if the Amp + Volt meters have been upgraded since I bought mine but it would be worth checking.

Hi barneey, loving this thread. I too would love an electric brewery control panel but nearly fell off my seat when I saw the price for their UK DIY kit! The $64,000 question is... Is your method of sourcing most of the bits over here going to make an improvement in the total cost?

Your one is beginning to look fantastic now! Now the home straight!

Cheers

Chris
