More progress. After getting it setup i then could start looking at how to feed it all about. So after a few changes and loads of plastic pipework and fittings her she goes.

With it Being on an island thought id better sort out a way to drain it all for cleaning etc.
With it being Plastic Fittings they are movable/swivel. So put the drain on an elbow.
Image

Then on a long arm that moves into an upright position clipped to the centre piece.
Image

Un clip it and swing it down.
Image

Bingo one drain into the sink.

Next is to test it all. Found i have a small leak on the HLT where the socket is welded to the barrel, so need to weld over the top of it to seal it. Hopefully get it done in the week.

Looking good.

I love that plastic piping - it's just so damn easy to work with compared to copper.

Excellent post Tally! =D>

Don't you just love mucking around with this stuff?! It's all part of the fun...absolutely love it!
Drinking it is the end result but building and brewing gives just as much satisfaction.

I dont know if I'm more impressed with the plumbing or the fact that you could clear space in your garage to build the setup

Well made more progress finally. After getting ready to make a brew a couple of weeks ago found the HLT socket still bloody leaked. Got it re braised. put the element in and tightened it up. crack.. braise failed again...

sod it. bouught another 2 1/4" stainless socket and got my mate to cut 2 new holes nearerthe bottom of the keg. sliced the socket in half and welded these two in. whacked out the old braised socket and plated over it.

Now im back were i started ready to roll again.

Ive wrapped the HLT, MT, and FV in some bubble wrap and then wrapped 3 camping mats around each one for insulation.

Now just adapting a bit of the electrics (only planned 1 element for the HLT now it has 2  ) then a test run and beer making time again.

nearly there. had a play last night, got the electrics sorted. half filled the hlt (no leaks =D> ) heated the water up and then tried to pump from it to the MT.

Nothing happened. Pump ran but no pumpy pumpy...

When i got the MarchMay pump it said you could turn the head 180* (so the in and out were opposite ways) which i did. Turning it back the way it came made the pump actually do what it says on the tin.

So after re jigging it again, got the water from the HLT being pumped about.

Will have another session tonight in prep for a brew on Sat. Cant bloody wait hehe

More playing last night. Now everything pumps the right way, the sparge arm wasnt working right as something was stopping it spining. took it to bits and messed about with it and now that works too.

Pics of it all insulated up and now ready to run.
