It's a hidden element DaaB - just a round disc visible in the bottom although that could be covered in scale I guess.

I'll read the instructions with interest as I was not given the instructions with mine as they had long since departed...

I've been messing around with the boiler and imersion chiller this afternoon, great fun 8)

At the moment I'm trying to find the point on the dial where it keeps a constant 80 C. This is the temp I tend to add water to the mash tun, let it drop to 72 then add grains. If I put it on the timer plug I can have perfect temp mash liqour when I get up and can get straight to mashing. I'm also thinking I'll use it as a hlt for preparing sparge liquor rather than for the boil as bringing it to the boil was rather a long process today and the volume I can get in it is smaller than my current boiler.

Tried the imersion chiller on about 5 gallon of boiling water and it took about half an hour to bring it to 25 C, which I thought was rather cool 8) - certainly beats the sink method. Got one of those hose connectors recommended by Jim - works a treat on the bathroom tap - cheers jim. Only a fiver from B&Q.

Wanted to try my stuff tomorrow with a brew, but have to do some work :( Oh well, next weekend :)

Enough beer induced waffling
