This Norman chappie is offering a 2kg CO2 cylinder for £30.00, without regulator. Is this a good price? I'm completely new to 'pub style dispense' with cylinders, cornies etc, having been a 'Kingkeg/S30 with occasional bottling' man to this point. (since 1986)

My reasons from heading towards S/S as if magnetically drawn are : sterility, light exclusion, and four cornies have the same footprint as one King keg! I'll also be bottling into brown screw stopper quarts. I'm going to be making some 'historic' beers, all of which need long maturation and the feeling was that plastic isn't the best for that.

.....ok ok, it's shiny! Alright? I've said it!

Daab, thanks for the advice and link. Nice informative article on Cornelius Kegs. I'll hold back on buying a cylinder for now. As it happens, the European division office of Air Products is about 500 yards from where I live. Maybe a visit is in order.

The system seems very straightforward, and I think there is an adapter that allows king kegs to be used with cylinders as well. My plan is to use the cornie kegs for beers that need lengthy maturing and king kegs for 'running beers'. I'll see how I go. It may be that the cornies turn out to be so fab that I'll move on the king kegs (4 of them) and replace them with cornies......or maybe not! We'll see.

Cheers,

Why not buy a soda stream adapter and get your refills at Sainsbury's for £4?

I'm glad I bought the big bottle then.
But there again I gave use of paint ball cylinders at the moment
