Sorry for the late post but been working away for a while......

As far as the connectors being over the side is concerned, they are well away form iit when the JG speedfits are in place - Ive also suffered the disaster of a blown hose filling up the boiler #-o Saying that though I do have some more 15mm pipe and 90 degree couplings so may even drop them further down the sides.

Dont know about the volume of water but an outside tap running for 10 minutes? Not too bad if you are water concious (ie on a meter). Luckily I'm not so not an issue :=P

I used these on my homemade IC, gives 8mm comp straight to 15mm comp, works very nicely.

Thanks for the link, I will get some from Screwfix locally.
I suppose its best to have two separate loops rather than one great big long one for better chilling efficiency

I will probably make a dual 8mm chiller but does it need 2 hose feeds?
I might try to connect the one hose to a tee into the two 15mm pipes to feed both loops. It may split the water flow but should give 2 separate cooling loops. is this usual in dual chillers?

Any ideas where I would get the copper strips to use as separators or supporting frame as pictured above?

I looked at running a tee to feed both coils at once but was concerned about the ater not flowing so easily around one of the coils. This was based on what I had read somewhere about water taking the path of least resistance.....it was on the internet so it must be true!

As far as the copper bars on concerned I got them off ebay. Search on copper flat bar, the ones i got were 25mm x 3mm x 300mm but I did cut them down to I guess around 200mm would do the job.

Yeh, those are the ones I used on my CFC, not the 10mm ones I linked on the previous page  With the 8mm stop filed-out, they provide the final watertight seal around the copper pipe. I'd post a pic, but it's off-subject, and an ageing thread...

Cheers,
Chris

Superb piece of kit, had been wondering how to go about supporting my chiller when I build it and this looks the business. Combined with a whirlpool this is going to be a beast.
Where do you get the copper clips you've used to fix the 15mm pipes together?

Another quick question, could you use aluminium bars instead of copper? I've seen pdtnc used a similar design with aluminium, and as its a lot cheaper I was thinking of going down that route. Any perceivable problems with this?
