If I use a barrel with a clear silicone seal on the Hambleton Bart valve, the gas starts flowing at 25psi. I have another barrel with the original rubber seal. That one requires 45psi.

The best technique seems to be to turn the co2 bottle tap on and off once, with the regulator closed. Then, having filled the regulator with a very small amount of high pressure gas, I open the regulater tap until the gas flows into the pressure barrel.

When I want to use the CO2 for purging my secondary bin or kegs of air, I'll connect a Widget Control Handle. This will give better on/off control than the regulator. (Widget and Sodastream have the same thread)
