STC1000 Hacking
Re: STC1000 Hacking
Mine which Barneey has flashed for me has a white exclamation mark in a black triangle, I've also just received one which has the power and sensor terminals close together and that's neither V1.0 nor V1.1... seems the only way to be sure is to open it up.

Re: STC1000 Hacking

I cant check the other two as they are embedded in the maxi`s
If the terminals 1234 are close together it should be the correct version.
NOTE all ebay seller use stock photos so don't go by the picture when buying.

Like I said this one looks like it should be but isn't.

And this one I got back today ( thanks again. ) is a v1.0.

This appears to be the latest design which people have mentioned. Note the NTC1 and NTC2 which may indicate some other model to come.

Re: STC1000 Hacking
The one Keith has photo`d in his second photo is at least 1 to 2 years old, I don't think the ! mark is a good indicator unless you have an old one laying around & the 1234 being close together also seem a little hit or miss.

Re: STC1000 Hacking
FWIW I've a 12v version that looks just like Barneey's first picture, which is a version 1.0 (A400_P) - bought in early august from mixtea on ebay. There are the usual discrepancies in the ad vs reality - for instance the listing and pictured datasheet say DC, both mine say AC but I guess they are actually the same item. Anyway, internally it 'appears' to be identical to the other v1.0 I've seen - except the transformer is missing and has two links instead.
I could (easily) be wrong but if the 12v versions have been selling slowly 'maybe' more of them would be v1.0 and 'presumably' the transformers would be transplantable, for the enthusiastic.
Cheers
Kev

Re: STC1000 Hacking
Interesting as I have a fully hacked V1.0(A400-P) but cant get the "s" button to work, so it might well be possible to swap the trany from this in the 12v model, or even find a supplier of the tranys. I like the idea Kev. Might be worth an experiment. As the (non working "s" STC I have at the moment is only good as a display model).
EDIT- couldn't resist the experiment & purchased a 12v model, will let you know how I get on with it

Re: STC1000 Hacking
I would guess they are the largest supplier and have the biggest turnaround so all the earlier variants are sold out.
My last v1.0 was from the seller Lerway (fulfilled by Amazon) on Amazon.co.uk.

Re: STC1000 Hacking
Well I've ordered one from a "black exclamation mark in empty triangle" supplier !
I'll let you all know what the score is when it turns up.

The first one I pictured came from Lerway on Amazon last week so they seem to be out of V1.0 now.AnthonyUK wrote:I would guess they are the largest supplier and have the biggest turnaround so all the earlier variants are sold out.
