All tested and working fine. Just need to find out what people use for the difference temperature setting on F2 when brewing.

Maybe its hidden, but whilst you have earth wires going to the sockets I can't see anything connecting these earths back to the plug/mains-input?

Cheers

Yes good point kev, Not got a mains wire coming in yet, earth will connect from there to main connection block or will swap 2 connection block to be a 3 to keep it tidy.

Ah I see, good stuff (probably ditto with the sensor too then). I can't see any problems then :-)

TL:DR all the posts but just incase anyone needs to wire the STC 1000 directly to their heat/cooling here is an excellent how to

I am gathering together parts to build a fermentation temp controller. Should I use a fuse to protect the stc 1000, if so of what type and rating please and where should it be positioned?

Yes definately. Typically you will have one in the plug that supplies the setup, so you wouldn't normally need a separate one just for the controller - though you could do if you're a belt and braces type.

The plug fuse should be rated high enough that the fridge or heater won't blow it, so have a look at their power ratings. Similarly, the cable and any connection blocks (etc) you use should be rated high enough for the fidge/heater's power and also ideally in excess of the fuse rating to reduce the chances of them frying too badly before the fuse goes.

Now for my regular caution: please take great care and don't do anything unless you're sure about it.

Cheers
