Thanks everyone thats very helpful although i can't see the connection [the actual part] that allows rotation also why is it called three tier is it becos the holes in the arm are at 3 different angles?

Thanks thats does look like something i could have a go at i 've got plenty of copper pipe around and some lead free solder.Regarding turning coolboxes into mash tuns i guess there isn't much difference in the insulation in the different makes i'm hoping there isn't as my mother in law is donating hers but it isn't a branded name .Guess i just fill it full of water at 67 degrees and check it 90 minutes later and if the temps not changed much go ahead and turn it into a mash tun

With water alone you'll find you get quite a temperature drop. A mash retains heat better so don't put too much reliance on water tests! As DaaB mentions, blankets/sleeping bags etc wrapped around the coolbox do the trick.

Popped into B&Q yesterday and picked up a couple of watering can roses
as a fall-back plan. Would much prefer Phil's spinny one though.

If it were a cheapest sparging tool competition, last time i used the plastic reseal bag some malt came in, just pricked a loada holes in the bottom... worked fine

just gotta try not to cook yer hands

I've got a bruheat boiler, the diameter of the top is 14", which sparger would i need the 7" or 8 1/2"?
