The only reason behind the idea, was to pre heat the water + treat the night before brew day, the thermo pot keeps things nice and warm over night - no waiting around the next morning + was experimenting on thermo pot cutting and designs :) + wanted to use as little energy / time to heat the liqour if heating it on brew day. :)
I see, I didn't think about folks wanting to heat up the water the night before. I just get mine on while I'm faffing about weighing stuff and getting the coffee and croissants on.

I should be more organised and get everything weighed out the night before I suppose. Good luck with the project - just don't gas heat it :D

Well my 20L brewery is made completely of Thermopots (Boiler build can't find the HLT Build). Why a Thermopot for a HLT . . . .
  1. The element is on a timer, which comes on while I am tucked up in bed.
  2. The thermopot doesn't loose heat so I know how long it will take to hit strike temp.
  3. Because the thermopot doesn't loose heat I can fill it with all my liquor (mash and sparge) and not have to heat more as required
  4. You can get away with 1 element even if like me you brew outside in winter at -6C . . .
In fact you actually have to reduce the power going to 3KW elements as the boil is just to vigorous
  5. It's shiny and just looks nice

They're really that well insulated? I was worrying about how well insulated they may actually be, but it sounds like they are Ideal! I currently have 2 2.4kw elements to boil, but with a thermopot... I could get away with just one you imagine?

Personally myself I have fitted two to my boiler, this enables the brew to get to boiling point quicker, then you can switch one off.
As the element will be on for nearly 2 hours I would tend to switch between the two half way during the boil.
It always gives you a back up just incase one fails, if your half way through the boil and it cuts out `what you goin to do?` [-o<

Does the 60l come with a tap pre-fitted? That was one of my questions I emailed them about, still no reply :( maybe it's my aftershave....

No tap. The bigger ones had tap in the photos. I want to do a false bottom with the deck fitting so the 60L was the one for me.

Cheers for that, I thought all the ones above 50l had a tap that I don't want. Same as you I'll be going for the bottom fitting system. Although I'm not brewing large quantities yet I thought it prudent to get as large a thermo as I can so as not to have to buy another one in 12 months or so. I'll try and email catering-services.fr again.

They seem quicker to reply via eBay. A straight email I sent never got replied to...

Ahhh right, thanks for that too. I'd read somewhere on here about contacting them directly rather than eBay, I'll give eBay a go in that case.
